ATHLETICS FOR CHILDREN – WHAT EQUIPMENT SHOULD A SPORTS CLUB HAVE?

2024-06-13

Athletics training adapted to the age and abilities of the youngest is fun for kids. It is also a way to help them stay in shape, ensure their balanced development and proper motor coordination. However, for this to be possible and for the youngest to enjoy training, the right equipment is key. We advise on what to do to make kids’ athletics activities enjoyable, rewarding and enable them to develop their physical fitness.

ATHLETICS TRAINING FOR CHILDREN – WHY INVEST IN THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT FOR THE YOUNG ONES?

Athletics includes, among other things, running, long jump, javelin and ball throw. Even very young children can learn the basics of these sports. This is possible as long as the club or school gym has the right equipment.

It is a good idea to offer athletics classes to the youngest children as early as possible. It is a sport that:

enables all-round physical development – from motor coordination to speed, dynamics and jumping ability;

teaches persistence and self-discipline – it helps to develop character, teach regularity and catch the sports competition bug;

helps children and teenagers adopt a healthy lifestyle – including good eating habits. It also helps get them used to regular physical activity.

Developing fitness from a young age will pay off in the future. Young, “little” athletes become sports club stars, who also make their coaches proud. However, to encourage children to take up this noble sport, you need not only the right approach, but also the necessary equipment.

ATHLETICS FOR CHILDREN – WHAT SPORTS DO CHILDREN AND TEENAGERS ENJOY PLAYING?

Athletics training can start as early as children as young as 6 years old. Such classes are aimed at developing general physical fitness and gradually learning about different disciplines. A specific discipline is not chosen for a child until they are at least 10 years old.

Even little ones can participate in athletic disciplines that seem to be reserved for adults. If the sports club has the right equipment, they can successfully learn the secrets of even the javelin throw. Energetic several-year-olds like to run, race, jump and compete against each other in various competitions, so it is worth taking advantage of this fact to improve their physical fitness.

Exercises should, however, be aimed at the balanced, healthy development of children and must not strain their bodies. Both the skills of the coach and the athletic training equipment designed for the youngest children are just as necessary for this.

CHILDREN’S ATHLETICS TRAINING EQUIPMENT – WHAT SHOULD BE IN THE CLUB?

While a treadmill is the foundation of any athletic training, it is not enough for little ones to fully enjoy the sport. What accessories and equipment are made for the youngest athletes?

Hurdles for children

Even small children are already able not only to run, but also to run efficiently over obstacles. However, there is no question of using adult hurdles during such training. The ones for the youngest should be lighter and have an adjustable obstacle height in several steps. EVA foam hurdles for children meet these criteria.

It is also a lightweight foam structure that, even if it falls over on a child, does not pose a danger to them – it will not hurt them.

Children can also be introduced to throwing competitions. A foam javelin for throwing will be useful for this purpose.

FOAM JAVELIN
