Football is often referred to as the national sport of the Poles. Although the results of the Polish national team do not bear this out, it is football that arouses the greatest excitement among fans and attracts the widest audience. And there's no shortage of people willing to play – which is why there are really a lot of football pitches in our country. How should they be equipped? Find out what football equipment is essential on every pitch.
FOOTBALL GOALS – BASIC PITCH EQUIPMENT
In fact, all you need for a recreational game of football is goals and a ball. While the size and design of these elements may not matter much in a backyard, they are very important on a public pitch, school playground or stadium. Football goals should be sized according to the age of the players. Equipment meeting FIFA specifications and in line with tournament requirements is installed for adults and professionals. For children, the football goal is often smaller. Both permanently mounted football goals and portable ones are also available, allowing for any rearrangement of the pitch.
A net is fitted into the goal, which should be made of very strong, weather-resistant plastic. Its mesh size, on the other hand, is adapted to the size of the balls used. Moreover, a professional football goal usually comes complete with additional elements. Popular goal accessories include reinforcements and padding for tensioning posts.
LINES AND FLAGS FOR A FOOTBALL PITCH
A professional pitch must also have a properly marked playing field. This is done primarily by lines painted on the turf. Special trolleys and environmentally friendly paints help to mark them out. They make painting straight and even lines very easy. In addition, there should be flags on the pitch – these are placed in each corner of the playing field. These flags are articulated, with a flexible lower post, driven into the ground. As a result, they do not topple over after coming into contact with a ball or a player and automatically return to an upright position after being hit.
BARRIER NETTING BEHIND FOOTBALL GOALS
When arranging a football pitch, it is also important to take care of safety. Barrier netting helps to provide it.
Barrier netting is a type of high mesh fence designed to stop balls that might otherwise find their way off the pitch. In this way, it helps protect surrounding buildings, cars or passers-by. It also makes it easier to run the game, as it reduces the time needed to run after a ball that has been kicked far out of bounds. Finally, it improves the safety of the players themselves, helping them to avoid situations such as running after the ball into the roadway. Barrier netting behind football goals is used on most pitches and stadiums. However, if there is, for example, a street, buildings, car park or spectator stands along the sidelines, the installation of a ball stop net is also advisable there.
It is important that the outdoor barrier netting is weatherproof. Their size is also important – it should be at least a few metres high. Most often, outdoor barrier netting is installed on aluminium profiles, which are both very strong and resistant to water, UV radiation as well as high and low temperatures. Steel barrier netting also works well. On the other hand, ball stop nets are made of plastic (such as polyethylene or polypropylene), which provides them with high durability and robustness.
FOOTBALL STADIUM EQUIPMENT
The above-mentioned football equipment is completely sufficient, for example, on a school field or a public pitch. However, furnishing a football stadium is a more complicated issue. What is needed, for example, are booths for reserve players usually with a row of seats and a simple canopy. Whereas, the grandstands need to be fitted with seats. Importantly, smaller pitches can also be supplemented with space for spectators – ready-made stands can be provided, usually consisting of several rows of seats with or without canopies.
In addition, the stadium should include a tunnel to allow players to move comfortably and safely between the pitch and the changing rooms. A telescopic football stadium tunnel is an excellent solution – it is a structure that can be easily folded or unfolded. A professional telescopic tunnel is both highly durable and resistant to both mechanical damage and weather conditions. The best choice would be an aluminium structure.
Stadium equipment also includes electronic boards – primarily scoreboards. These allow the status of the game to be displayed clearly. In professional sport, electronic player change boards are also used to display the numbers of players entering and leaving the field.
