HOW DO BEACH HANDBALL GOALS LOOK LIKE AND HOW ARE THEY DIFFERENT FROM INDOOR GOALS?

BEACH HANDBALL – WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
At first glance, the only difference between beach handball and indoor handball the games’ environment. Sand is obviously the surface in this case. However, players and experts suggest that there are few similarities with indoor handball. The grounds, their shape, the number of players and rules are all different. The spectacle is also different. It is interesting that you get 1 point for a regular goal, but you get 2 points for a so-called spectacular goal. It is therefore a very interesting discipline for the viewer.
Due to the soft soil, dribbling is virtually impossible. “Pouncing” on the ball is acceptable. The team consists of 3 players and a goalkeeper, while the game features two halves, 10 minutes each. A won half is worth 1 match point and the entire game is won by the team with the most match points. Extra times feature the so-called “shoot-out” system.
BEACH HANDBALL GROUNDS
How do beach handball grounds look like? The grounds should be a rectangle with 27 m in length and 12 m in width. The playing field dimensions are 15x12 m, while the goal are dimensions are 6x12 m. The grounds have a sandy surface and the sand should have a minimum thickness of 40 cm. The substitution area is directly adjacent to the playing field and the grounds should be surrounded by a safety zone with 3 m in width.
Goals are placed on each side of the beach handball grounds. They differ from indoor goals and are mounted by being dug into the sand. They have a specific structure and feature additional sleeves for digging. What else differentiates beach handball goals from indoor goals?
BEACH HANDBALL GOALS – DIMENSIONS
In terms of dimensions, the beach goal does not differ from the indoor goal. In every case, a handball goal should be 3 m wide and 2 m high. Beach handball goals are made from a round aluminium profile with 80 mm in diameter. On the other hand, indoor goals are made from a 80x80 mm square aluminium profile.
It is very important for a beach handball goal to be light (easy to move, assemble and disassemble) and durable. Aluminium is therefore the most common material used in this type of equipment. It is also worth making it easy to store. The goal net quality is also very important; it must be durable and resistant to the impact of atmospheric conditions. The nets are most often made from polyethylene or polypropylene. These are very durable and nearly indestructible plastics, the properties of which do not change when affected by water, UV radiation or extreme temperatures.
For safety reasons, round elements are used for building the goals (aluminium pipes with a circular cross-section are used most commonly). It is best to use goals with certificates from the IHF and EHF International and European Handball Federations, which are solid and safe.
BEACH HANDBALL – HOW TO CHOOSE THE GOALS?
Goals are the basic equipment for beach handball. Even professional goals are not very expensive, it is therefore worth making sure that you buying a good-quality equipment. Most important aspects It is mainly worth paying attention to:
• the aforementioned IHF and EHF certificates – certificates constitute confirmation of high craftsmanship quality and safety;
• aluminium sleeves that enable anchoring the goal deep in the sand – this enables the goals’ safe and comfortable use;
• removable sleeves and possibly other elements – these facilitate transport and storage of beach handball goals;
• reinforced profiles – they ensure the equipment’s durability and long-lasting use;
• solid PP hooks for net attachment – they ensure durable and safe net attachment;
• net quality – it is best for the net to be made from polyethylene or polypropylene; the net strings must be adequately thick and flexible.
